Overview

We are looking for a Safety Analyst for a growing team at our manufacturing and distribution company in Sanford, Florida. We provide building materials for the residential building market statewide with millwork locations in Jacksonville, Sanford, Melbourne, Tampa and Fort Myers.

Job Summary:

The Safety Analyst will assist in the management of the organization’s safety programs. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with management to implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in conducting weekly safety meetings to promote effectiveness.
  • Assist in the management of the safety incentives program.
  • Facilitates and/or coordinates employees' safety training (new hire orientation, compliance, remedial).
  • Coordinates/facilitates emergency preparedness drills.
  • Assist with risk management, focusing on documentation accuracy and incident investigation.
  • Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment.
  • Travel throughout the region as required.
  • Assist with regulatory agencies' surveys and audit responses.
  • Regularly responds to incoming internal and external safety communication.
  • Conducts weekly safety walk-throughs and periodic inspections.
  • Assist with compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Maintains driver's license and certifications current.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of security protocols and emergency preparedness.
  • Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability in multi-tasking.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least four years of safety experience is preferred.
  • Advanced training or certification in safety preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
  • Some extended hours, as needed, to accomplish job requirements.
  • Periodic visits to construction sites, subject at times to loud noises, high temperatures, and humidity.
  • Working in and around machinery/powered equipment and associated safety risks.
  • Job requires interaction with all levels of organization within the location.
  • Standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time around a manufacturing and/or warehouse facility as well as on the construction job site.
